Drawing - Ryan

Today in class we made a list of things that had an impact on our life. Out of all the things on our lists, we had to pick one that meant the most to us. We then got a sheet of paper, and with our non - dominant hand, drew a picture of the moment that we thought was the most important to us. Everyones picture looked like we had drawn them when we were in kindergarten, but we all had fun doing it. After everyone was done we got into small groups and shared with each other had drawn and what it meant to them. After we all shared our drawings, each group picked two people to share their drawing with the class. As people shared we all got to comment on their special time in life and relate it to their own lives. This was a fun activity that I believe everyone enjoyed.

Moments - Maria

Today in our Comp class we wrote about our reflection of blogging and what we think about it so far, since this is the first year Mrs. Farnsworth has decided to do this in her class. We went around the room and told people what we wrote about and what we think about blogging. We all agreed that it was going to be fun and we all like it, and get a chance to write and talk to others about what we have to share. After that, Mrs. Farnsworth had us write in our writing territories about all the important moments in our life so far. We typed for a while, then she had us choose three that we wanted to share with someone next to us. It was interesting hearing the things that people around me shared. She then had us choose one that we liked the most, and we had to make a picture out of it with our non-dominant hand. This was an intense challenge. Mrs. Farnsworth asked us what we thought about doing this activity. Some people said it was, wild, challenging, makes us think about what we really want to write about, and it’s something different. Overall today I think everyone really enjoyed this class hour, and we all look forward to finish up this activity tomorrow.

First Post - Morgan

Today is class we discussed how to write a “good” blog. For many of us this is our first attempt at ever writing a blog. Mrs. Farnsworth had us read a blog from one of her other teacher friends, to show how to successfully write an effective blog. We talked about how to write a encouraging response to posts with constructive and positive criticism. We are also filling out a spreadsheet with information about our blogs that we are going to share with other schools that we will be communicating with through our weekly blogs. Our in class assignment is to start writing our first post. Everyone is super excited to start blogging.

Blogging- Kylee

Today in our Creative Writing class we learned a little more about blogging. Our teacher, Mrs. Farnsworth had us set up our own accounts for either Blogger or WordPress. We brainstormed blogging ideas for something that you could get a response on. Something you could have good emotion on and be able to talk about it. I found that there are many things you can do with blogging and learn from it. I’m not too used to any of this, and I’m sure I can say the same for my classmates. After messing with it for a while, we will get used to it and be comfortable doing it!

Senior Expectations - Brianne

Today in our Creative Writing class we had free writing where we used our lists from yesterday and wrote about our expectations for senior year in more detail. Mrs Farnsworth told us just to go with any thoughts we had and let it take us where ever. The goal was to get back into the feel of writing freely. When we were done we got in a small group and shared our papers with each other. After each person shared every other person in the group then shared something they liked about that person's paper and ideas. This assignment became a lot more interesting and nice than everyone was expecting. I think a lot of people realized that many people had the same ideas and we got an inside look into how people feel and related it to ourselves. We decided we felt more comfortable and it was more personal being in a small group sharing our papers.

Writing Territories - Jenna

Today in Composition, Mrs. Farnsworth started out the class by introducing us to Prezi. She showed us one that she had made last year and explained it a little bit. Then we started our Writing Territories. Writing Territories is where will we brainstorm ideas for our writings throughout the semester. For today, she had us make a list of our senior expectations. We then shared with the class the top 3 things on our list. She ended the class by telling us that we would reflect more on it tomorrow.

Apples to Apples - Brittany

August 25, 2010
Today in Composition II the class was split up into three groups. In these groups we played the game Apples to Apples. This was a very fun and enjoyable time. I believe the purpose for playing this game was so that we students can get more comfortable with each other before we start sharing our creative writing projects.
